for Dogfish
Andy,
Any outdoor plans this weekend? I thought I was going to make it to the "rez" this weekend for bird hunting, but found out I'm headed to a funeral on Saturday morning.
So.. changed plans.. staying home... looking for something to do on Sunday.
Any wood ducks still in your area??? You gonna be home this weekend?
signed,
anxious

Re: for Dogfish
I am deciding between going pheasant hunting or duck hunting on Sunday. I might even do both. There is a pheasant release site near my home that I will hit, and then I plan on maybe doing some jump shooting on the farms, with a little pigeon hunting thrown in for kicks.
I have yet to get enough water for some serious decoy hunting on the property, hopefully later this month it will be better. I only saw two woodies there a week ago, but there were bunches of elk. Saw over 60 of the buggers last weekend.
The pheasant release site is a once a week release, so Sunday will not have a lot of birds, but there won't be anyone out there, either.
Andy

Re: for Dogfish
Interested in a hunting partner on Sunday.
I got a dog I'd like to test out. Understand she doesn't play fair on retrieving.. more later on that. This would be her first trip.
Shoot.. mine too. I'd need the west side pheasant stamp or whatever it is.

Re: for Dogfish
Andy,
It would be interesting to see how they "play" together. I'd hate to think they'd forget about hunting and just want to romp.
Mine is 2 year's old..not sure about her speeds. Might be still wanting to stick close to me. I've got two speeds... stopped and dang slow..
I'll call you later tonight. I think I have your phone number around the house.
Is your pheasant area a steel shot area?

Re: for Dogfish
Yup, steel shot is required. The wife and I are going out to look at new dishes, so I won't be home until after about 7:30 or 8:00pm.
Don't worry about the speed issue, I actually like hunting pheasants nice and slow. You pass over fewer birds. I'll see about getting permission for you as well. Part of the site is permission only, other parts are feel free to hunt. I don't believe it is an issue.
You could also call me on my cell. I have sent that to you by e-mail. Andy

Re: for Dogfish
Hey Guys,
Don't mean to get uppity about the situation but could you carry on this conversation via personal email ?
Thanks,

Re: for Dogfish
You have a few options on the pheasant tag. I think one is a 3 day option, the other is full season. Price is a bit steep, $36 for the full season. You also need to choose odd or even. I chose "odd". No laughing allowed.
Jenna, my dog, is a bit hyper, and I'm not sure how she does around other dogs when hunting. She minds me, but not others. That's why I like to take her out where we are away from others, so I don't upset someone else.
If you are up for a shot at shooting some leftover birds, come on down. The dog would be fine, as I am sure Jenna would love to meet a new playmate.
Jenna has gotten out hunting with me about 4 times so far this year, and this is her first full year heading out. Be forewarned, she is 1 year old and knows two speeds, FAST and STOP.

Re: for Dogfish
Bill,
I got permission for you.
GB,
Were we not talking about hunting? Were we bashing anyone? Were we doing anything inappropriate? We were conversing, in a convenient manner. There are MANY private conversations within all of the boards on this site. Heck, if someone was interested in joining us, I might even invite them along as well.
Sometimes during these conversations there is info discussed that may be helpful to others. There are numerous boards out there that discuss plans for board members to get together, this board had just such an occassion during the aborted Flotilla III. I have invited many folks to fish and hunt with me from various boards, including this one.
People learned about our dogs, types of game sighted recently, and they also learned that I am a pretty nice guy for allowing someone who I really don't know all that well to go hunting with me on a piece of private property that I have secured permission on through years of hard work.
If I offended anyone, sorry.

Re: for Dogfish
DF,
Nothing offensive, just trying to keep things running smoothly.
Thanks !
