Default Deer rack photos (rating - "E" for everyone)

Just thought since I was in the photo sharing mood...

These again were not my deer, but I definately thought worthy of the wall, and worthy of posting on the board. I skinned these boys out for shoulder mounts.

Ohhhh some day I may get lucky and whack one this nice...

Yes the cat is freaky, but who here likes to be elbow deep in an elk covered in blood, it is a good feeling. Mainly cause you got one, not just for the kill thrill, and when you pack em out and your back is bloody, man that is what is about.................besides eatin them crittas.

Elkslayer, I can't tell if your tongue is in your cheek, or if you honestly believe the stuff you wrote in your post.

I suggest you go back and read all the posts of the "kitty" thread, and try to lose the sophomoric perspective in your banter. Waterfowlin101's pictures were interesting, but your comments about your bloody back were juvenile.

May be I cn put it in more simplistic terms: if your wife goes to the gynecologist do you want pictures and a whole discussion on the internet about how her nasty venereal wart was removed using terms any 9th grade boy would understand? Or would you rather that discussion use words that maybe a college graduate might use which (hopefully) would include a little more sensitivity about the uninitiated who might read it?

Personally, a little restraint and decorum is probably better.

WF, is there any story you could share along with the pictures? I'd love to know about that first rack. I know lots of people would disagree, but given the choice, I'd rather have an exceptional non-typical rack than an exceptional typical rack.

beautiful pictures, and thanks for taking the time to share!

Where did the velvet horn buck come from Jon? I would think everything in Oregon would be rubbed out by season. Out of state? Just curious.

To the other comments, I too like the pack, and have experienced the wet experience. Did I enjoy it, well I don't know that I needed it to complete the process, but I do think of it as a merit badge, that a lot of our brothern will never earn. Is that a big deal, no, just in my own mind and I guess thats where it should stay. Other people just don't understand. Being PC is a pain in the behind, but we do need to think in the bigger context than ourselves. I know I don't like watching hunting video's, usually there is too much about the kill (slow motion of the shoots, ect.), just makes me cringe, I enjoy the hunt, the kill is actually a minor portion of the overall picture.
We have come a long ways since the days of watching hunting on ABC in the afternoon on Sundays. Its a shame that is gone, that program went a long ways in educating the public about hunting. I guess we have the outdoor channel, but I have not been impressed with some of those programs, (blinds over looking a field).

Rank, well stated. There was a thread a few months ago about the fact that the kill is a miniscule part of the hunting experience. It's about God's creation, comroderie, family, and much more.

I agree with you on the current hunting shows. I saw one last night that had some 12 year old kid 25 feet up in a tree stand watching a patch of pasture that had been specifically planted to attract deer. Heck, that's more like shooting chickens in a coop! Who the "hell" calls that hunting? What a joke!!!

Yeah, and a lot of people are watching that garbage and thinking it is hunting! How about a show on my elk hunt last year, day after day, daylight to after dark, rain, wind, a few exciting moments, maybe a bull in that herd at daylight and not one shot fired. Still can remember the two calves boxing on their hind legs in front of me at 40 yards. Now that is hunting.

(rated “E” – for everyone). Now I’ll admit that’s clever.

Jon, your soon-to-be wife is going to have her hands full I can tell already.
