Default Lubrication of jet pump

How often do you need to grease the jet pump? The North River dealership said 2 pumps after every use. When I do that the grease "flings" all over the exhaust. I am familiar with greasing bearings with the zerk fittings, but this one is making me nervous. I don't want to burn up the pump. Oh by the way 5.0 Marine Power 2 stage pump.
Thanks for the help, Matt

I have a 3 stage Hamilton and manual says every 30 hours with Extreme Pressure lithium grease.

You should talk to Waterdog. He might be able to save you a couple grand in boat bucks.

Couple of pumps every 30 hours should be fine. Although I'm not sure how it's throwing grease around. Is this the thrust bearing or a u-joint? The bearing is sealed so there should be no grease being thrown.

And whatever you do, DO NOT use a pnumatic grease gun.

I agree with Waterdog and the Pumper.
Looking down towards my transom,
I give two slow hand pumps of grease in the zert on the Jet Pump after every use.
I hand pump grease in the two zerts in the Universal Joint maybe every 20 hours,
and yes it does throw excess grease by my port exhaust.
I use Valvoline SynPower Synthetic Grease Part No. 985 from GI Joes
