Default Crooked River

I fished the Crooked yesterday for 4-5 hours. What a nice day. The temperature was mild and it only sprinkled on occasion. The wind was strong at times, but manageable.

Nymphing was not very productive for me and I only picked-up a few fish with an orange scud with a chironomid pupa trailer. There was a decent BWO hatch but I only found one corner with many actively feeding fish and that spot was taken by two fellows who were doing well. Still I was able to catch a few here and there while the hatch lasted. On the way home I fished below the dam and found lots of feeding fish. There was a midge hatch and fishing a Chan's Chironomid with a Humpy as a strike indicator proved to be very productive for the time I fished before leaving. I did not find any big fish but did land a few 12 inch fish.

The river is very very low, but by the looks of the reservoir, which is only about 15 feet below full pool, the water level in the river may be going up soon.

Nice Brian...I'll be on the JD Wed and Thurs. God willing and the crick is predicted to rise; will let you know.

Nicely done and nice report. I need to get over the hill and do some trout fishing. It has been far too long.
