Fish legislation
Anyone been paying any attention to what's happening at the Capitol lately? Here are just a few of the Bills that are in play.
SB 473 Requires that Oregon consider hatchery fish to be the same as wild fish for management purposes.
SB 423 River Rights - Sponsored by the NW Steelheaders, State recognizes our right to be on the rivers.
SB 1014 River Rights - Sponsored by CORR, introduced by Senator Ferrioli.
SB (Yet Unknown) River Rights - Senator Ferrioli will create his own version.
HB 2011 Bill that changes "equitable utilization" to "sustainable utilization" in ODF&W's fish and wildlife management statutes.
SB 734 Creating Marine Nurseries- Marine Reserves Bill.
Hb 3038 Allows municipal water developers to lock up water rights for future use, often speculative, demands without regard for fish and wildlife and other river values. (Hearing on Monday at 1 P.M.) Said to be one of the worst water bills of the session.
HB 2664 “The Buoy Bill,” requires that polluters mark the zones in the river which violate state water quality standards, such as with floating warning signals. If the bill passes, over 100 toxic zones would be marked off in the Willamette River alone.
