Default Lower CR

With all these rivers getting blown out, does the lower CR ever go out? I'm heading down to Cathlamet today and was wondering how this will affect the river conditions. Maybe upriver about the Lewis might be a better choice.

The Columbia is running green! Watch the Willamette, however, if it goes brown it will provide enough punch to brown-out the Oregon side of the Columbia below St. Helens. You can still slide over to the green Wa. side all the way down to the Cowlitz.

The short answer is 'sort of'.

When the Willamette goes, so goes most of the lower river. Add to that any color being tossed into the CR from the Sandy, Washougal, Lewis, Kalama and the Cowlitz, and it may be more brown than green. You may recall a few years ago when the Willamette was puking mud and the CR was relatively clear, Frenchmans Bar and the mud line around the mouth of the Willie were red hot as fished staged just outside the Willamette.

With a little luck, the rivers will clear relatively quickly and get us back to 'normal' spring time color.

Hit the Big C below Longview for a few hours this morning and it was brown in spots and green in others. Oregon side.

I saw absolutely no fish caught while I was out for the few short hours I had available. The guys on the hook had nothing but I did see a sealion that acted as if he just ate something. Don't know whether he took it from somebody or actually got off his arse and caught his own breakfast for a change.

I trolled cutt plug and whole green label and had takedowns on both but they didn't stick.
