Don\'t Get Discouraged!!!
>>>Cllick Here for Willamette Falls Fish Counts for March 2005<<<
Here are the cummulative counts last year on March 29, 2004 - 212 total springers over the falls.
This year, on March 23, 2005, there are 216 springers over the falls.
Last year's run was a record run if I recall on the Willamette, so we are ahead of the pace this year!!!
Don't worry, be happy, they are coming!!!
SKP

Re: Don\'t Get Discouraged!!!
One of the ways discouragement manifests is that you lose faith in the methods that have worked well in the past. If you did well in prior years using plug cut herring, and you've been unsuccessful using them so far this year, it doesn't mean the fish have changed what they want, it means there weren't fish there when you tried for them. Switching to unproven techniques now may limit your opportunities. Stick with what gotcha here and get ready to start filling the tag. Things are about to get interesting!

Re: Don\'t Get Discouraged!!!
A great way of fighting springer discouragement is by waiting for the fish to be in instead of wasting time by fishing one or two months before there are enough fish to catch.

Re: Don\'t Get Discouraged!!!
for sure...just because you nailed 'em one year using X does not mean that you would do the same this year.
this steelhead season has proven that to me already....all my "go-to" rigs have done nothing this year...I had to learn new methods to get fish.

Re: Don\'t Get Discouraged!!!
I'll start late March or early April, most the time after the first of April, and won't give up into July.
I'd rather be fishing steelhead and hooking double digits every day until the springers are in good enough to put at least three or four in the boat every day......

Re: Don\'t Get Discouraged!!!
That's why your the professional and I'm not
I will get my 20+ CR springers -27 last year- it'll just take me loooooonger than you.
I think I have Fishin' A.D.D. I can only do a fishery for about 6-8 weeks and I need to move on.

Re: Don\'t Get Discouraged!!!
I'm burnt out completely. I'm selling the boat , the rods the net , even a kidney. I'm done. There are no fish, and there never will be. Give up all of you guys and gals.. Take up golf, bingo, bridge, checkers, whatever.
But whatever you do don't go back out on those rivers .......cause there just ain't no fish: and there never will be.

Re: Don\'t Get Discouraged!!!
BCF, you're crackin' me up! I've been out at least once a week trying to get a fall fish and I haven't got a darned thing! I give up, too!
Wait ... I shouldn't be trying for fall fish yet, I should be targeting springers. D'oh! And spring is what? ... 4, 5 days old? Hmmmmm. Maybe, just maybe it's just the begining!

Re: Don\'t Get Discouraged!!!
hey guys dont get discouraged about the fishing its early. i know its easy to do. every year is different for every fishermen. last year at this time had 10 in the boat this year i have 4. but i know guys that had nothing in the boat last year at this time and they have 6 or 7 and i know a guy that hooked 6 yesterday. its all about being in the right place at the right time and making sure you have it in front of there face. keep at it guys its going to happen and i think its going to happen in a big way this year. tight lines and stick with it.

Re: Don\'t Get Discouraged!!!
Yeah, after this rain it will be a dud. Don't even bother with it. Time to get your fall fishing gear out.
