Did you see it on the news last night as it was on all channels(Channel 12, 9, and 8)???..
But a good friend of mine, her son, who is 22 months old was attacked by a dog (the news is saying pitbull mix, as always) but it is a shepard mix (either way it does not matter) this dog has torn open this little boys face and it took emergency surgery and over 80 stitches to repair his little cheek.
This dog is in quarentine and will be uthenized as a result to this.. Like any dog should that does something like this.
I could not believe my eyes when I went to the hospital to see him yesterday and his poor little face is all tore up. He is a tough little guy as he is on no pain meds he on just tylenol and still has the urge to smile. Hard to believe the little guy wants to smile after all that..
Jaydon sure is a tropper!
Just a REMINDER to keep your eye on your dogs and kids when they are around dogs. Never turn your back!!!
STORY FROM PAPER IS AS FOLLOW:
‘A pretty tough little boy'
LEBANON — Jayden Sapp, 21 months old, has returned home from the hospital after a dog attacked him Tuesday afternoon at his home in Lebanon.
The dog, a pit bull mix, belongs to a friend of the family and had been at the house before. Jayden and his older brother, 4-year-old Kigan, had played with him.
Jayden's parents, Matt and Carrie Sapp, said the dog had never attacked anyone before.
Jayden was either leaning on the dog or trying to give it a hug when it turned on him and bit his face, Carrie Sapp said.
His parents rushed Jayden to Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, where they waited in the emergency room for two hours before going into surgery.
The surgeon didn't know the exact number of stitches on Jayden's face, but Matt Sapp said he counted 57.
The surgeon guessed there were half that many on the inside of Jayden's cheek.
Jayden may have some nerve damage and end up with numbness in his face.
However, the surgeon told the parents the dog missed a central nerve that allows a person to smile.
"We got lucky there," Carrie said.
Jayden is still able to smile and laugh with his parents.
"He's a pretty tough little boy," his dad said. Which may have something to do with the fact that he has an older brother, he added.
When Carrie recalls the incident, she remembers the dog's owner had just disciplined it for growling, and she thinks the dog was mad at the time.
The dog's owner has an infant, and Carrie said, "I thank God it wasn't her baby."
The dog's owner has told the family the dog, now in quarantine, will be euthanized.
The Sapps have not pressed any charges but have spoken with police and are planning on retaining an attorney.
Matt wants people to know that dogs that are known to lash out "are not good family pets."
His wife emphasized the importance of keeping dogs like pit bulls on a leash.
The Sapp family had plans to purchase a house one day and get a puppy for the boys, but now those plans have changed. They'll get a house without a dog, Matt said.
