Default First Cast Jigs! FIVE for Five!! no pics report

I Had one of those days we all dream of Saturday. Fishing one of our local streams this weekend, I thought I'd try a small, black First Cast jig in a deep hole. First Cast, BOOM! native with a fin tag that said Kalama, WDFW, and a number on it. Since this was not The Kalama, and it had a fin I let it go.What was this tag? Anyone? Third cast, boom fish on a 6-7lb hen which I let go. Thirty minutes later, I decided to let the deep hole rest. I went back again a few hours later, and caught three more, two nates and one hatchery buck. All were bright except the buck. The next day I took my buddy there and he caught his first steelhead, on his first cast, with a jig and float. Took a pic as he let the 10lb. nate hen go. After that I lost one which is only the second fish I've lost from a jig. I've probably seen my bobber down 35 times, and landed 33 in the last 4 years, which is a testament to the quality of Mark's jigs. All in all it was one of those days to remember, my first ever five fish day, all photo'd and released.

Fantastic story. That's cool your buddy got his first steelhead too.

Look forward to seeing the pictures.

A "Mark's jig" is a First Cast Jig. Mark makes and designs these jigs. Very high quality and you should find something you want by visiting his online store; http://pnwws.com/cgi-bin/firstcastjigs/store/store.pl
Do a search for more info.
Every steelhead fisherman should carry some of these fine jigs.

The tag means that that fish was captured at the upper hatchery trap on the Kalama. If it is a wild fish they probably passed it on past the hatchery. It then fell back over the falls and headed down stream out into the columbia to your seceret spot!!

GRIFF
PS Would be curious (for science sake) where you caught it PM me!

If you don't want to buy on-line, they are in pretty much every store now, GI Joes, FMS, Guide Shop, Nesstuca Vally S.G. Tillamook Bait Shop, that way you can see them.. But Mark has the best selection, he can provide any size or color you can imagine.. He's a great guy with a quality product, so you can't go wrong...
