2 Stroke Oil

Do some 2 stroke oil smoke worse than others? If so which smokes the least. I have an Evinrude 4.5 2 stroke and using Evinrudes oil it seems a tad - cough - cough!

I use a synthetic oil in my PWC that smokes something terrible, and smells bad too. The good part is that it's biodegradable and the engine loves it. The non-variable oil injection is to blame for the heavy smoke.
The weird thing is that synthetic oil in a car will burn much clearer than petroleum based.

I'd make sure your premix is accurate and your running the right ratio. If you are, then try some other brands.

If your carb settings are too fat that will cause a lot of smoke as well.

Thanks, I'm right on the mix 50:1 assuming the bottle I picked up at West Marine is caliberated correctly. Neat bottle has the markings on the side for various ratios and gallons of gas used. I got to burn up 3 gallons so I guess a trip to the lake should take care of that - or what do you do with mixed gas you don't want to use anymore?

3 gallons? I'd just dump it in my car and then fill the tank up to dilute it. If you don't want to do that to your car, you can do it to mine. Or my boat.

Or if you're in Linnton any time soon I can dump it in one of the slop tanks where I work.

Running a little 50:1 mix through your car won't hurt it.
