Default South Coast report (pics)

Well with the rivers dropping into perfect shape.. and filled with fish I knew this had to be the weekend I get out!

I was able to fish the SF of the Coquille on Sat. with my brother in law.. lots of boats but lots of fish as well...

I met an ifish'er down from Sico, forgot his name, but a very nice guy!
Along with his name I forgot my camera, on the kitchen table... no pics from Sat. but we did manage to hook 9 fish and landed 7 of them. Not a bad first day out in the drift boat for 2004!

Sunday's forecast was for showers.. on and off all day, they were right but the fishing was equally as good as Sat.!
We ended up hooking 11 and only landing four.. :depressed: should of had a couple more but the fish Gods were with the fish!
Here are a few pics from the adventure..

Dad starts us off Sun. with this nice buck

Mike gets into the action with this buck

dad again... with a nice hen

Lots of fish in the Coquille...
dad has boated over 28 in four days... even with our slow day yesterday... fishing shoud remain good through Feb for hatchery fish! and the Coquille always gets a good puch of wild fish in Feb. and March/

Nice pics Travis. What a nice way to start off your year. Can't wait for springer season though, your pics are always awesome.

Congrats on the fishies

We ended up hooking into some fish on the "low and clear" rivers up here. I kinda liked it, not as many people around on the river, but the fish are still there, you just have to modify the technique a little. Sounds like the coquille is the place to be right now though with that many fish showing.

Good to hear of your success on the Coquille, Guess I'll have to explore beyond the Millicoma, can you suggest an area for bankin, or advise if an small aluminum/15hp would work on a section.

thanks in advance for any advice

....nice pic's!....

I think the south coast is seeing a good number of fish back!

Paul, that rock produced a ton of fish Sat.
we went through three times and hooked up each time.. and there were four other boats working it as we;; and they all hooked fish too!
We call it the Wood****** hole.. there was a wood****** working over a tree both days..

Lots of fun for the first real trip out this year!
Thought I better go this week with the new boat coming next

I would think if you could row the 15" boat any drift woudl be ok...
there really isn't much water to concern yourself with
infact it would be an excellent side drifting boat!

Travis-

That was me you met Saturday. Thanks again for the ride. What a beautiful day to be on the river. LOTS of people on the water, fortunately most were friendly and courteous. I have never fished a river where the guides are as friendly and helpful as there. Nice meeting you and maybe I will run into you again.

Hey Dan
great!

I agree, the guides that work the river are very helpful, even the out of town guides.. it was crowded (many say becasue of my posts) but there were lots of fish and its a friendly group!

I like catching fish amongst lots of people  mAybe that's why I like the Rogue bay in Aug. so much!
