Default Prawn spinner help?

Could someone post a picture of a prawn spinner set-up? I searched the archives and couldn't come up with a picture. This will be my first year hitting the springers hard and I'm loading my boat with all I can. Hope it helps!

Here ya go! Scroll down to my second picture. Note that the wire should be cut to not extend below the shank of the treble, AND the tag ends of the leader should be cut. Hope this helps. TOC.

Also, might try tech tips and keepers.

I dont have any pictures to show you, but I will tell you there are a million different ways I've seen people rig prawns. I've tried quite a few myself and I'd say you'd be money and time ahead to just buy premade wire rigs with a blade. They do just fine for me and they are so much easier to use. Just my .02

T.O.C's pictures are great, except i would stay away from the wire blade holders if your going to run them on monofilament as seen in the pic I would reccomend a plastic one to reduce abrasion.

Blacktail, I did some primative testing, and the inside of the wire is prrreeettty smooth. All the same, go with plastic (will lose more blades) or be prepared to tie new leaders fairly often. TOC.

I second the metal holders. I've lost blades after hooking a fish on the plastic holders. I've also used the polished metal clevis, not interchangable, on the mono line without any problems. Put a squirt or dab of scent oil on the clevis area to lube and slick the mono.

Here is the set up that I use. I like my prawns to spin when trolled.

This is a very simple set up.

Small in line beads
Plastic clevis. Metal will nick your line and there is a good chance of losing a fish.
Size 3 blade
3 hook sliding mooching rig in 3/0 = 2/0 combination. ( note the stinger hook out front).
Small dental rubber bands tp help secure the prawn to your rig.

I use exclusively metal clevises and have never had any issues with the line breaking, or losing the blades.

I've used Riverkeeper's spinner prawn rigs and have never lost a fish with it.

I use the pretied Rogue River outfit, with my own prawn cure and have only ever lost 2 or 3 out of about 150 on this prawn rig. I like it better than Erics because of the treble.

The last couple of years ****** has shared his setup.

I like this floating style for trolling and anchored in a good current.

Good fishing,
Hans
