I have received several calls regarding Mad Deer Disease in Oregon. To my knowledge there have been no reported cases of the disease in Oregon.
In 1967 the disease was discovered on a Colorado wildlife research facility. It since has spread through deer and elk populations mostly in the western states such as Colorado and Wyoming.
Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease affects the victims brains. There have been three deaths reported between 1997 and 2000. Two hunters and a women who consumed venison regularly.
You can contact the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at 800-311-3435 or on the web at

Iam putting this up so all can check it out if they are worried about hunting and eating the meat.
