Default Pre-season Scouting Reports

Should be a good deer season,
I went scouting last Saturday for my eastern oregon buck hunt. Driving to the area (but not in our unit) we spotted numerous groups of deer, all with bucks, but one group in particular was nice; about 16 deer in the group of which 12 were bucks and 8 were four point or better (some pushing 30"+ in size). Then we reached our area, first walk of the morning we get about a quarter mile in and we jump two bucks, one forked horn and one 4x4 who is about 36" wide; very encouraging. We go in about another two hundred yards and jump four more bucks together, one 3x4 (about 30" wide), one fork/spike(he was weird, real wide and tall but only a fork/spike), one smaller 4x3 and one small forked horn. This was exactly what I needed to see since this was the area I was planning on being in on opening day. Oh and sorry folks, this is all private property that we have access to in the East Biggs unit. Hopefully we will find them in three weeks. Anybody else have any good results from scouting.

Very exicted,
JK

We went over about 2 months ago and scouted the area we hunt in the desolation unit. We went up about 2 hours before dark and the hills were thick with bucks. The unfortunate thing was every buck I saw (40-50) were forks, with a few spikes. I'm sure we will see a few larger bucks (I hope) in a few weeks.
