Default Retriever Clubs?

As I posted recently, I have acquired a new hunting partner. One that won't back out at the last minute! She is a 14 wo Chessie. I'm having to start her later than I would have liked and am already running into training problems with just the basics (potty, sit, stay, etc). What I would like to know is if there are any retriever clubs around to help me "get my feet wet" on my first dog. I certainly cannot afford a pro. Not a chance. Havin a hard time keepin us all fed right now. Getting to know others in a training environment would help to show the dog and ME the right direction to travel. This is a whole new ball game to me. I'm reading EVERY book on the subject of retriever training I can lay hands on, but, all that reading cannot be a replacement for some practical experience.

Thank you
Eric

I highly recommend the Oregon Retriever Trial Club. It is loaded with people that know a lot about dogs and dog training. If you get into this dog stuff, you may find yourself joining a couple of the other clubs also. I'm not sure that Cindy is still their contact person. If you are interested, pm me and I will find out who you need to contact.

The ORTC is where I learned how to train dogs. Best dog move I ever made. I don't belong anymore because, I've moved onto other things but I'm still a big supporter.
