It's been awhile. It's a good Largemouth fishery. Our club had some kind of problem with the city of O.S. wanting a permit fee, so we haven't gone back in awhile. I think somebody was thoughtless enough to ask if there was a city permit required, O.S. thought about it, and said "oh, why, yes, that's a fine idea", and made it worth
their while. More than/on top of, the State permit fee. So we don't buy motels, or gas, or food or souveniers in Ocean Shores, in case you're the Mayor. End of rant.
There's quite a bit of weeds. Look for clear water areas. There's one canal that had very nasty stained water, but where that dumps into clear water would be worth a look. The fish should be holding inside the mudline, ambushing whatever (spinnerbaits) they can catch. The little canals out of the South end of the main lake don't seem to hold fish, probably due to too much traffic, and too shallow/narrow. The Grand Canal and the lake off the SW end is good...very clear. Can't recall the name of that 'lake'. My recollection is that I caught #2 Big Fish in one T there, low 4 lb. bracket. That came out of a bay off the Grand Canal with a wood bridge across the entrance, west shore. I once looked at the most northern lake, north of the boat launches, and would spend some time in there again. Green Pumpkin 5" Yamamoto
