Default Credit card companies

We're shopping for a credit card for a small business. We'll probably put about $500 a month on it, and pay it off each month. Good credit isn't an issue, so a good interest rate will be easy. What we're looking for is a card with benefits such as air miles, rebates, etc. We refuse to use the well known bank that expanded up here from California a few years ago... What about credit unions - do they offer benefits with their credit cards? Any large companies that actually value their customers and offer good deals?

American Express has some good rewards type cards for small businesses, and you don't have to worry about interest, since the balance must be paid each month.

Another recommendation is the Alaska Air/Bank of America Visa. Pretty good way to earn miles.

I have used a Captial One Visa and a GM Mastercard for a number of years now. I accumulate the $500 annual credit at 5% of purchases for the GM vehicle (I'm under the old plan and can accumulate $3500 total) first and then switch to the Capital One and accumulate non-blackout airline trips (if you don't use it you can cash in the miles at the 1% rate, i.e., $150000 in credits would return you $1500). Used the GM card when I bought a new Silverado in 2000 and got an additonal $2000 off after agreeing on the sale price...it was handled just like an additional rebate. Good luck!

I have used the B of A Alaska cards for years. You can get your picture on the card and you can have two cards (1 bus, 1 pers) that both go tot he same miles account. I recentlyswitched to capital one to get some additional variety inthe airlines.

I buy everything, I mean everthing on my cards and then pay them off. If I don't have the cash to pay them off then I don't buy. Get lots of miles this way.

Good luck

Neal, I also use B of A's Alaska Airlines card and like Steve I pay for everything with it and pay it off at the end of the month. You get a Companion fare coupon each year for a $50 ticket +tax when you buy a ticket and also some First class upgrades.

I've used an REI Visa for nearly 20 years, even as the holding company has traded hands several times. I earn an average of 10% rebate on REI purchases and 1% cash back on all other purchases.

I'm not sure if 1% or the airline miles makes more sense?

A friend uses the AmEx small business card to charge huge amounts of business expense and accumulates mountains of air miles.
