Default 2nd Transducer Mount Question

Thinking of adding a second Fishfinder back by the kicker.

My question concerns mounting the second transducer on the transom. Specifically, will I need to mount the new skimmer on the other side of the transom to avoid conflict with existing unit. If so, the only available spot is near kicker which brings concerns of clean water and/or problems with interferance with Kicker (kicker is on bracket so no physical interferance exists).

The new finder will be the much better of the two units and I would want it to have best available mounting position to ensure best performance but re-wiring existing unit would be a royal pain in the stones. Ideally, I would like to mount the new skimmer next to existing unit. Existing unit is my GPS unit so I could not shut it off while running the new unit. Could simply disconnect the existing transducer but then no depth information at the helm would be a problem.

Also, I wonder if a common transducer networked to a NMEA 2000 data box would allow both finders to share a single Transducer? Existing Unit is a Lowrance 330c and the new unit will be a Furuno FCV582L.

Thanks - 5-Salt Fever

Dont know what frequency these run at, but if they are the same, they will screw each other up if you run them both at the same time

should be an option to just turn the transducer off on the lowrance and when ready to drive from the helm just turn it back on. otherwise you will run into interference.

I put two on the back of my transom side by side to only find out and should have put more thought into it. But I can only use one at a time. If you find a answer two using one for both I would like to know that. But I would bet they sense they are from different manufacture they may send or use different voltage and current levels.

You need to run two different frequencies of sounders. I don't know if they all use the same frequency or if there's models where you can choose it. It's kind of like to radio stations broadcasting on the same frequency then asking your radio to tune into only one.
