The Sandy below I-84, keep your eye on I-fish, there is no zipper-lip for Smelt. Get a hold of me when they are in, and would try to work out a run up there with you, my buddy and I found a "Cash-in-the-bank" spot last year, 50# in 20 minutes.

Either the sandy or cowlitz. I like to dip in the evenings. I'd say it will happen pretty soon in the next month or even few weeks. You'll see posts here on Ifish when they start coming in thick. all you need is a smelt net, a 5 gallon buckets, chest waders and a headlamp.
Enjoy!

Smelting IS a PARTY no matter who you are with. That is how mamy people are there. This is a wait until the guy who has the hole finishes first, than it's your turn. Just watch and learn. Make sure you scoop from the bottom, just because you see the fish are on the top, when you put your net in the water, they also go to the bottom.

Yeah Paul, you do live closer. But it ain't nothing for me to drive out there and hog your spot right next to you  It would go something like this:

"You freikin' goofball, scoot over will ya. There's plenty of river." "Hey....that's my hole, go find your own. Get outta my spot!"
