Default Big Walleyes?

I'd like to know just how big the walleyes get in the Lower Columbia and Multnomah Channel, so I thought I'd try an informal poll. You don't need to give any more detail than you want to reveal, just your largest walleye caught. Lower Columbia and tributaries only, please.

Pictures encouraged.

If they still have it, there's a big one on the wall in the S.H. marina fuel dock/bait shop. I believe it was caught around the Santosh area.

Thanks for the replies and, yeah nomonuki, that fish is still up in the St. Helens marina. What a pig. I always thought it might have been caught out in the desert until now tho.

14 pounds is huge - where I come from people fish walleye regularly. 12 pounds is about the top end,and 8 pounders get mounted all the time. Most of those guys, you put a 14 pounder on the line, and they're gonna need a pair of depends undergarments.

It was a good way to pass the time of day while waiting .I will have to go back one of these days . I AM INTO Bass FISHING NOW AND IT DOESN’T SEEM LIKE I HAVE TIME FOF ANY THING ELSE .J

The biggest walleye I ever caught came out of pot holes reservior. I don't know how much it weighed. I only measured it. It was 22 inches. Probably not very big as Walleye go. If there is one fish that I lose gear on it's the Walleye. I get hung up on the bottom and lose more tackle fishing for Walleye than any other specie. I have never been Walleye fishing where I did not lose gear. A lot of gear. It's too expensive. For that reason alone, I have been very dissillusioned about fishing for Walleye. I simply do not like pursuing them.

Like everything else I fish for, I am pretty much a newbie at walleye fishing. I have caught a total of two walleye in my lifetime. The first one weighed 4 lbs. The second weighed 6.2 lb. and was 25 5/8" long. They were both caught the same day by Coon Island in the Multnomah Channel trolling crankbaits. There must be such a thing as beginner's luck.

The only walleye I have caought have all been over 8 lbs. I don't use heavy gear. Thought I was snagged on all of them. Very little fight until they get to the boat. But very good fillets.

12 pounds along Govt. Island. Weaving in around the fall chinook hoglines in September. We caught two that day that were identical, both weighed exactly twelve pounds and both were caught on longbodied crankbaits trolled downstream. I believe they were Storm Thundersticks.

I have caught a couple around 10lbs and lost one at the net I figured was about 15lbs. Have also caught many smaller ones.
If you really want to see some nice walleye go to the weigh in at a tournament. They used to have one in August at Rooster Rock State Park and the Governors Cup by Irrigon a little later. These guys really know how to catch the eyes. You will be totally impressed. A 15lbs walleye looks bigger than a 25lbs salmon it seems for some reason.

I'm a new member here. Last summer I picked up a 12lb eye and a few others 7-9lb below Bonneville. Pretty much drag harnesses. Haven't had much luck pulling crankbaits and don't feel confident enough with jigs yet. Hope to do more jigging this year though.

Hey, BTW, has anyone done any walleye fishing above the Oregon City falls? Just curious... no reason why there shouldn't be any up there. Just wondering.

May ya'll have a tight line & a fish in the air.

There is a photo of a 14 lber on the wall at Fred's Marina that was caught on a trolled herring at the head of the Multnomah Channel. The mounted 16 lb fish there was caught above Bonneville somewhere.

I understand that they catch walleye down to the Astoria bridge. Of course I don't.

I was going through some photos tonight and found this.

When you catch Walleye and it's -10 out you too can present your wife with a bouquet of Walleye.
