Default Just joined the club, here's my story....

Well, after reading ifish letters for some time now, I decided to join in and tell one of my own. It happened last summer on a trip to a place my parents used to take our family to 20 years ago, Hewitt Park at Powder River. In years past, we would gather 2 to 3 families and take the long road trip over to the park. I remember catching crappie and bass on almost every cast, and skipping rocks across the water with all the other kids. Time went by and I heard stories about the water levels and how they messed up the fishery. Well, even more time went by and after a little research, I learned that the water fluctuations have been stabilized, which improved the fishery once again. So last summer, my friend and I decided to break in his new NorthRiver Sportster over in Powder River. What a time we had. We caught some crappie, perch, very large catfish, and at least 100 smallmouth. I think we caught our biggest crappies during a thunder and lightning storm that was right over our boat! That lightning was to close for my liking.
I look forward to returning to Powder River again this year, and relive old memories of skipping rocks across the water, and catching smallmouth, one after the other.

Shalom, what time of the year do you prefer? We went in the middle of July last year. When I was a youngster, my parents took us over there when we were on spring break from grade school.

Riverfisher
I will make my first trip to Brownlee In late March or early April..I will watch the water temperature and the weather to determine when the first trip will be . The second trip I will go up May 31 .There is a crappie tournament on June 5 th .There are at least three of us from the OREGON BASS AND PANFISH CLUB that are going to enter again this year .We were lucky last year and I am hopeing to do a little better this year. My friends took first and second place last year. I had a good time but finished in fourth place .They quit paying money at third place. I am hopeing to do better this year. The last trip will be September 30 th. .Drop me an e-mail and I will give my phone number and we can talk .
