Sportsman Show & Brownlee report 2/10
Thank you to all the i-fishers and OB&P club guys who stopped by my booth.Coming from a small town I was overwhelmed at times by all the people.Sometimes I was listening to fish stories, giving out info and trying to book some trips all at the same time. It was a great experience but I'm sure glad to be home.
I was asked to give more Brownlee reports and will try to do a better job of it.
Fishing is good right now. Some of the locals are breaking the ice at the Hewitt Park ramp to launch and catching some good fish, crappie with a few perch mixed in.Some are getting around 50 fish per rod.By all accounts they are good, quality fish. These guys are getting them within sight of the Hewitt ramp. This is the ramp near Richland in the Powder arm.

Hey Crappie Chaser. I thought I was going to see you at the OB&PC booth sooner or later needing a break. I would have been glad to sit in at your booth for a while. It was good meeting you. Those pictures of crappie you showed us were fantastic. The santa hat was a nice touch.

It was great to meet you . Next show that you are at be sure and take advantge of Bucketmouth and myself .The shows get long and tiresome.
If you see someone useing the boat ramp and it has ice on the water and if you can talk to them before they back in, have them check there trailer lights to make sure that they are higher than the ice.Trailier lights and ice doin;t do well together. The lights will break much easier than the ice.It is so easy to forget the little things.

Re: Sportsman Show & Brownlee report 2/10
It was nice meeting you at the Show. We make an annual trip to Brownlee for crappie every spring. I am the one that had the fire and lost all my crappie, salmon, eggs, deer meat and everything but my pj's. :depressed: :depressed: We will be bugging you about water temp and spawning conditions. We usually come around the second week of May. Can't wait!! Do you think that it will be later this year because of the snow melt? I really enjoyed visiting with you. We would like to hook up with you when we come over. Thanks for sharing your wealth of information with us. Stay in touch, Terry (Fishrite)

Gary, bring on the sun, warmer weather, and crappie bite. Can't wait to get slime on your new boat. When you get a chance, post a picture of it if you've got one.

Born to Fish,
I saw your boat in the classifieds. Man, if I had the cash I'd jump on it. Gorgeous boat. It would be a nice upgrade from my 16' alum flat-bottom with a 40 hp. When the wind comes up on Strike, I have to sprint for the dock. A 19' mod-v would take care of that.
Just curious, where/what are you fishing around here that you need the deep v?

Terry,I enjoyed talking to you & Texas-Rig.You guys really have a handle on the spring fishing.Call me when you come over. It's a tough guess on the timing. It seems like the slower Idaho Power raises the reservoir to full pool the quicker the water warms.Slow but steady is better than a lot of cold water in a short time.I expect the crappie to start in April and all of May to be good. Fishing is pretty good right now.In the Powder Arm go out to where the water starts to clear, near Sag Road lately.A party of locals caught 79,all 10" or better.Sweeten your jig.
Dean,I thought that warm weather was about here but it's back to snow today.Last year we got all our winter in the spring so who knows. We broke the boat in last year. Those first few trips were tough, trying to really baby it but now it's just business as usual. It's really comfortable.I think you will like it.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Mtn Basser - this is a really great boat and if I didn't need the money from its sale to help pay off my Weldcraft, I'd be inclined to keep it. This is a sweet ride - very comfortable and can take rough water well. I've never had a boat before that had as much storage space as this Fisher does - it spoiled me. This is a solid, well built and designed boat, and very reasonably priced.
While I'll still do the usual warm water fishery deal, I want to spend more time in the Columbia chasing salmon, steelhead and sturgeon. Also want to fish and crab the coastal bays, and maybe if the opportunity presents itself do some bottom fishing just outside Depoe Bay. Then there is the incredible salmon and bottom fish fishery up at Sekiu that I'm hooked on. Would also like to give halibut a try up there sometime. So, the Fisher isn't exactly the kind of fishing platform I need for these new interests - but I still love that boat. I'm sure that whomever buys it will be very happy with it.

Gary:
Thanks for the reply. I can't wait to come your way. 79..10"ers sounds great to me. I would love to sink my teeth into a crappie fillet. I don't have any left. I will have to wait on Billy this year..cause I don't have a boat anymore. Once the house is rebuilt I can start looking for a boat.Talk to you later, Terry
