The town of Richland is haveing a crappie tournament on June 5 th. and 6 th. on Brownlee resivoir. The crappie fishing will be good long before that . Keep watching this posts and people will begin talking about there catching crappies and what they are catching them on . They are very open and will share information . If you get to the sportsmen show stop by the OREGON BASS AND PANFISH booth for more information .

I have a pretty definitive answer to that. I have been fishing brownlee for years. I've always made my first trip on or close to may 15-25th. That's when I've had outstanding success for crappie and good luck with most other species there. This year however, I'm targeting cats. My buddies always go over in mid june. That seems to be when the carp are in full spawn and the cats hangout close by for a easy meal. We're talking daylight hours and as many BIG cats as you feel like filleting!

On Memorial Day weekend, Huntington has its catfish derby; pridy gud goat rope. Hubbard Creek aka "the cemetary" has both cats and craps.

The catfishing starts getting good about the end of February, beginning of March...as soon as the weather breaks. I've been fishing Brownlee for about 30 years, lived less than an hour away most of my life. Early is when you catch the big ones. May-June, you catch the numbers.

You might not believe this, but the crappie fishing is good right now. Small jigs, fished really slow are the ticket. Find a school and you can clean up. Remember SLOOOOOOOWWWW! The fish are deep, so it may take 10 minutes for your 1/64 oz jigs to get deep enough. Light line and light gear are the norm.

Once the water warms up the area from Huntington (Spring Boat Ramp) to below the Cemetary fishes really well for crappie. Target points and coves.

You might want to do a search for Catfish and Brownlee. I wrote a ton about it last year. Maybe come springtime, I'll post some maps...

between the cemetary and the research station has been decent the last few weeks, and also the rock walls along the idaho bank between the cemetary and the mouth of rock creek have been pretty good, but the mouth of rock creek is still my favorite spot for crappie. like the guys said, slow, slow, slow, their about 40-45 feet deep and pretty sluggish. but that's also part of the fun, waiting for that little bitty bite....
