Default another question about fishfinders

I posted this question on the other board but did not get much info, so I thought I would ask the pros.

I have a dilemma, I am ready to buy a new fish finder and was planning on the new Lowrance LCX-26C HD, 480 X 640 Pixels. But after waiting for it to become available I am getting tired. I want a new toy what do I do. Lowrance has the LCX-20C out but it has half the Pixel count 240X320, with the same power, I don’t need the hard drive, but it would be cool. What would I be giving up with half the pixels as most of the other brands are only about the same as the lcx 20c is there a point where more Pixels are redundant I mean is there a point where more doesn't help anything but marketing. For some unknown reason I am afraid yes I will admit it afraid, of the furuno and Simerad and the other "commercial units" as I am not at all familiar with them or there operation.

Thanks.

Are you looking for a combo chartplotter/fish finder? It looks like those models are combo units.

Personally, I prefer separate devices. (Although radar overlayed on a chartplotter would be nice sometimes)

If space is an issue, get the Furuno 7000FNT. Furuno has a great reputation for producing the best fish finders. This model isn't really a commercial unit and is probably just as user friendly as the Lowrance.

Edit: Didnt say anything about what you asked.

Looking at the Lowrance site, the only difference between the 2 is screen size, resolution, and a hard drive. The 20C only has a 6" screen, which may be kind of small for a combo unit. Im not sure how useful a hard drive is. If you really want a Lowrance, maybe take a look at the 25C. It has the 7" screen but no hard drive.

I actually wanted the 25c but it also isn't out yet even though it is on the web site. I do want a combo unit as I don't have room for two units; I just have a small 18' Intruder. My old finder is giving up the ghost and due to the fact I just remodeled the house for the wife I am treating myself to a new GPS fish finder and I want one that I don't have to wish I got something different. If you know what I mean. Tell me more about the 7000 furuno if you can.
