Re: Another Seahawk
Congradulation! You'll love the boat. Driving the boat via tiller is a pain. I just bought the Panther Steer but haven't hooked it up yet. Down side to this system is that it doesn't control throttle. Lots of guys use TR-1 but pricey at around 2k but if you put it into your loan (if you got one) then it shouldn't add much. The 150hp should be more than enough to pull the kids. If you have any other questions send me a PM. Oh and I'm down in So. Cal. so at least we're in the same state.

Re: Another Seahawk
My kicker is mounted on a warm water box welded onto the transom. The tiller is mounted closer to the troller, but is still less than ideal. I think my next upgrade for the boat is a TR-1. Radar and tower/arch will have to wait. Mines a 22' w/ an F225 and will launch any kid out of the water. Don't hesitate to ask any questions. PM me if you want to.

Re: Another Seahawk
Mo, I currently run a 23' Seahawk HT with a F225 & T8 Yami's, they both are great. I think with the 21' Soft top the 150 would be ideal, and do all you want to if proped right! Regarding Kicker steering I have remote throttle up front, and use TR-1 Auto-pilot and just love it. My previous boat had the Panther Steering, which I had removed due to excess noise. I went with the Goetz-eze Steer Hydrolic next, which was quiet but wore blisters on my thumb trying to keep the boat under control. My suggestion is if you cannot spend the $ right away for the TR-1, wait until you can and just link the kicker to the main. After using the TR-1 I'd sooner go without my fishfinder!

Re: Another Seahawk
Mo Money,
I think someone is getting in your pocket a little deep. I just ordered the same boat but the upgrade from 150 to 225 was only $2600. I went with the 150 but do not have any plans on skiing behind it I will pull the kids on ocasion on a tube though. You can PM me if you like I would like to know how much they are charging for your boat.

Re: Another Seahawk
I have the 150 on my 21 footer and it is fine. I can run 44.5 MPH wide open with the motor trimmed out, 70 gallons of fuel, and two adults.
Make sure it is propped right, you should get 5900 RPM's out of her when it's trimmed up. I burn about 5 gallons less fuel running to the halibut grounds than my buddy Rick with his 225. Course I guess he could get there faster

Re: Another Seahawk
Tacklebuster,How far out are the halibut grounds your talkin about that you burn 5 less gallons(Im from northern calif.)?Do you have the aluminum deck and scuppers or just 2 bilge pumps? It sounds like you guys run out pretty far. Most of my fishing grounds are within 30-40 miles of the golden gate bridge.I dont think I should have any issues with range. You think your boat could pull a skier/wakeboarder out of the water ok?Nothin serious just the kids havein fun when dads not fishin.

Re: Another Seahawk
We run 32 to 34 miles out and back. Last year I had 70 gallons of fuel, three adults, boat loaded with gear coolers full of fish, etc. Ran out to the ranch (32 miles) ran back to a favorite bottom fish area, trolled for some salmon, and then back to port. Total trip was a touch over 74 miles. I burned 25 gallons of fuel.
No problem pulling a skier/wakeboarder either. I have had it for 9 months now and if I had to do it again and had the extra cash to get the 225, I would still get the 150 and spend the cash on something else like a radar tower or something. The 225 is very nice but the 150 is a great fit for our boats.
I have two bilge pumps, not the self bailing deck.
