Default Pacific Northwest Sportsmans Show

This year the show runs from Feb 4 thru Feb 8. I will be manning our booth on the fist day. I will be wearing an Oregon Bass and panfish hat and jacket with the same symbol. I will display an I-fish sticker. Looking forward to meeting some of you. Lets share some fishing notes.

Hope you all have a great 2004 fishing year!

I usually work the show in one form or another but this year I believe I just have to work. Don't think I'll get to go. First time in many years. You all enjoy.

SHIMANO SYMETRE 2000's for $54 at BOB's!! Regular $84-79!!

I also bought there new SYMETRE 2500. SWEET NEW REAL!! It has the spool of a 3000 (if they made a 3000) and a real slow oscolate!! SMOOTH!!

They actually had some bass boats there and make sure you check Jeff Boyer's seminars!

Have Fun!

BF NW, I got one of those Symetre's, couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it for $54.99. I talked my salmon fishing buddy into getting one also, now all he needs is a bass rod and he'll be all set with his own bassin' gear, instead of using mine.

On thing about the Symetre at Bobs booth, it must be an older model. When I checked the price in my Cabela's catalog ($79.99) it showed Shimano spinning reels going by 1500, 2500, 3500. These reels are 000 series and only have three+1 bearings, the 500 series Symetre's have four+1. Oh well, that's OK by me, it's still a mighty smooth reel!

In 1999 I bought a Shimano stradic 4000. I soon leaned that I had too much reel for casting for bass all day long. Should have gotten the 2000 model. Since then, I have listened to Jeff boyer at the sportmans show in the blue theatre each year. He has advocated that one should group his reels to be as much the same as each other as possible. Therefore I decided I wanted to equip all my spinning rods with the Shimano symetre 2000 series. I choose the symetre cuz it was a little less expensive than the Stradic yet still a very reliable reel. Soooo.... I too was amazed to see the sale price at BOB's. It has never been on sale before as far as I know. But maybe the reason it was,at this years show, is because it's an older series as pointed out by "smj".

But, that said, I did not buy the reel. That's because last year I swithced over to Daiwa Laguna hardbodyz 2000 series. 7+1 bearings. This reel is also extremely smooth and I was able to buy my first 2 reels of this series last year at the show at the Daiwa booth. I picked them up at $51.00 apiece. This year I again found it on sale at the show but for $54.00. The retail price is $69.99. Now I have 3 Daiwa Laguna reels on three spinning rods. Still have the Shimano reels and will use them often.

I learned 2 years ago, at the show, that it is not the ball bearings that make Shimano reels the great reels they are, rather it's the gearing.

Anyway, you guys that took advantage of the sale on the Symetre this year got a good deal and I know you will enjoy them.

I too enjoyed the dock dogs and had fun taking pictures of them in mid air.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to the cowlitz to go smelting. Will let you know how I did.
