Default waldport crabbing

I was wondering if anyone has crabbed alsea bay and If you have done any good. Where have been the best places. Would it be better to go to newport. Where has it been good there. If I go to newport I might also try bottom fishing any advice. Thanks.

Your subject caught my attention real fast. We have a house down on the bay, so we crab it quite a bit. In the last couple weeks, it's been mostly females showing up in the pots with very few scattered males. A couple months ago the males were huge (3lbs or so). The Alsea bay provides a couple good crab holes (just follow everyone else; where there are tons of pots usually shows about where the holes are. But unless more males have crawled in, you'll just be tossing back hundreds of females.

Ditto the hundreds of female crabs. We went out on Sunday, worked hard for 4 hours to get 15 crabs between 6 of us. Some pulls, we could barely bring the slip ring pots in the boat the were so full (nearly all large females). Would that be a she crab? It was fun for the kids though and the weather was awesome! Have fun if you go.

My dad went this last weekend but only crabbed off the docks. He said that there were tons of people and all he saw or caught were females, he didn't catch any keepers.
