Default 4 lb Test

Just for kicks fished the Willamette above the falls with one rod loaded with 4lb. If the fish hadn't been so deep for us and less windy it may have turned out better. We landed four decent fish on the rod up to 18". Drop shotting in 15-25 ft. We took turns using the rod and were glad when it came time to use our regular rods with 8lb.

I used to use 4 and 6lb test quite a bit and never really broke many fish off, though I'm sure I babied them along pretty well. Each year I seem to go heavier and heavier for lines. Line manufacturers have come a long way thats for sure

I've been playing with a Yamamoto look alike. It's a little Yum Dinger and looks like a small senko. (3 inch size). Best thing about it is you get twice as many and they have the YUM scent. (I'm a believer in this stuff).
But anyway drop shotting with a #2 or #1 Mustad Megalite about 8in above the lead. Fish are getting deeper. Color has been varying..from their bumble bee to watermelon. Shad colors sometimes have been hot but now it's the darker colors.
As has been mentioned the fish are getting deeper for catching numbers....15' on down to 30.
Going to try the luck today and check out temps.
