Re: ALBANY AREA
Bearing in mind that I'm in WA, I would call the DF&W, and see if there has been a permit issued to anybody for chemical weed control on that lake. If there has not been, see if you can find out who has been doing it, because they can be in deep doodoo. One of our club members was present when some skiers were spreading weed killer (a copper compound, I believe) without a permit. The EPA and DF&W took a dim view of it, big fines were levied. Look at Home Owner's Associations on the lake, but it could just be individuals. It really does whack the fishing. C&R, Steve

Re: ALBANY AREA
Your best bet might just be the Willemette River.

Re: ALBANY AREA
Not the prettiest place but Freeway Lakes has some dandy's in it. You usually don't get many bites but sometimes good for a quick fix.

Re: ALBANY AREA
In the Lebanon area there are a few ponds, Champion mill ponds just past walmart on hwy 20 is a place we fish a lot. It's gets fished quite a bit in the summer and can get pretty littered up. It also gets pretty green by the end of summer, but we still get some nice bass from it every year. Morse bros. also has a pond off of grant street that I used to fish alot but a couple of years ago they put up no trespassing signs But there is still a car or two parked there most days. I have also caught some nice fish out of freeway lakes and bond butte ponds. This year I plan to explore the willamete and calapooya quite a bit. I have never fished the north Albany lake. Is it open to the public? It looks like a real nice lake but I always figured it was private.

Re: ALBANY AREA
There are several sizable ponds that have bass between Albany and Corvalis. The old Hub City-future Bowers Rock State park site has two ponds. Horseshoe lake (property owners permission required) has one large horseshoe shaped pond and one roundish gravel pit, Greenway ponds off Riverside drive, etc. There are many more. A good way to locate them is by going to a web site like microsofts terra server and than just pan around, once you find the pond than drive out to the area and see if a neighbor can tell you who owns it and who you need permission from. Good Luck

Re: ALBANY AREA
Tall-Tailer; What's the status of Bowers rocks park? When I was younger we would park at the gate and catch tons of fish from the first and second ponds. I have wanted to go back but I saw a new sign and gate down there last time I was by there. I know there is two entrances, but the guy with the other entrance told us to beat it a couple of times.
Too much lead; There is a pond down in the 'hood, I believe at the end of water street, that a couple of years ago had a lot of bass and crappie in it. It is known as Simpson pond. BUT, the water is gross, and the area residents are mostly unsavory, and I'm not only talkin' 'bout the fish...............
