Default could not belive my eyes

after reading post/TEN MILE YELLOW PERCH\02-01-03
I could not belive people think like that.its like they want to play GOD or something!!talking about killing all the spiny rays I think they call them (bass ect)non NATIVE species. all because there salmonids are becoming a endangerd species.(yea right)and it everybodys fault but theirs. Its the bass, its the seals&the dams& logging&gillnets&globlewarming!when was the last time you saw them release a salmonoid that they did not have to??I have a great way to fix this we let JUST native americans fish for native species.or should we kill ALL non native species??and lets start with the labrador retriever.and lets see how about ringnecks heck we dont need non native plants so lets get rid of strawberry, oranges, bananas ect.wait how far would the salmon hatcheries make it with out the money from all the Other fishman??I hope they dont make good on their PERSONAL agenda.or the rest of us will be staying home on weekends watching the tube.I hope I did not make any one to mad but I feel strongly about my sport to!!

Protocol calls for a story about a fishing trip you have been on when one makes their first post. You need to go to the Ifish Community with this post where you will get the appropriate whipping you deserve.

I love Bass fishing and for that matter Warmwater species in general. But I won't use this forum to bad mouth the opinions of other fisherman or their passions. Discussion of others opinions is cool but judgement calls are out of place here.

Well I released two "nooks" in the 35-40 # range on the Stucca river a while back. The big one was pushing 40# real hard and was also nice and bright! I always release the Bass cuz I don`t like to eat them. (Sure are fun to catch though!). Just my 3 cents worth. Fishft.

Well, I release all wild salmonids and many times hatchery fish. As for bass, I like to eat them, but I'm not good at catching them. We all feel strongly about our sport and hopefully about that ecosystems that support them. Lets hear your story. Happy fishin'

OK H.H., I'll bite.

So, it isn't the bass, dams, logging, gillnets or other man produced hazards, huh? Then what is it? Before you answer, though, you might want to check your facts. You should start by looking at catch records vs. other mortality rates, etc. If you don't, you might look just like a "bassfisherman" who is "nothing but a" "bucket toteing ,undereducated, redneck". The real beef here is the illegally planted species and unless you had something to do with that, you have no reason to be offended. You didn't plant them, did you?

JMO,
D.

I agree MAN has caused the problems for the samonids!! but I dont that killing all the warm water fish is the answer.
After all our money is as good as anyones (they sure dont do anything to help the warm water fishing that Iem aware of)? anyway I do not approve of ANYONE planting or killing any fish!! or any illegal acts for that matter.my beef is the people wanting to KILL the fish that I fish for.so that maybe their fishing might improve.
the warm water fish have been here for many many years. Theirs room for all.
what facts would you like me check??let me guess some state employee that makes a living studying
SAMONIDS?? how about we ask Ray scott.jmho

IF they are NATIVE to the body of water they are in then all is good. If they are planted in a body of water they are not a NATIVE species in and proven to be causing problems with the NATIVE wildlife they need to be removed before the problem gets worse.

JMHO and I fish for all kinds of fish.

One good thing to do is to look to see how many rivers have real NATIVE salmon runs. The OFWL people say that lots of fish (salmon) that are only planted are native because they are not clipped. Tell me how that can be? Do you see any clipped Bass? Can you honestly tell me that some of these fish are not native? They are all over the U.S. the came with the railroad a long time ago and some have could have been here before. Get mad @ the power company but not a fish.

Its pretty much a given that neither Large mouth or small mouth are native species (walleye may or may not be a native species some argument on that possibly may have migrated from bc over the dams)
To say that these species don't have an affect on salmonoids is either A) really misinformed, or B) your blinded by bucket mouth fever
Either way, they don't belong in our rivers and lakes. They harm our already depressed fisheries..

Thats lame.....

This is a losing debate. The same people that rip on bass being present enjoy the heck out of catching a hatchery steelie, even though their presence hurts native runs...period. Hypocrisy..

I think you can stand on either side and argue each point till you're blue in the face. I don't understand why guides charge money for catching oversized fish, fight them to near death then release them only to die from lactic acid build up or stress or maybe the retention of undersized fish by those who don't care....man. Dams, habitat, global warming....man. Import, implant, transplant...man. It's easy for us to point fingers and it's okay to be upset but we, MAN, are the culprit and possibly the cure but it won't happen over night. I enjoy catching and eating and releasing as well! We all need to do our part. One earth, one chance.

I do enjoy catching hatchery steelies, that doesn't make me a hyocrite. We are still talking about a native species (in the basins I fish in). Bass do have a negative impact on Salmon/steelhead fisheries, there isn't much of a salmon run left on the johnday, due in large part to the # of smallies present. Same on the SF umpqua, they have a negative effect. And their being illegally spread into more and more waterways every year (billy chinook for example)

hawg catcher,
Fill your garden with salmon if you want, its your choice.. As for me, bass will always bounce off the gunnels on their way back. (although they are pretty tasty in clean rivers)

If it's not native,Get em out.I think it's funny how much pressure there is on the pikeminnow when the bass and walleye eat just as much or more. But since they generate revenue you don't hear much about them. The pikeminnow is just a scapegoat .

This subject is such a can of worms that has surely been left in the sun to long...It just amazes me how even in times of bounty one side still complains. Alaska may be a good destination for the silver purest. Praise God I don't have to fish for only one species.

No win situation, no win debate..let the nature and fish live the darwism theory, and thus may the best species survive..
