sunglasses?
would like to hear some opinions on lens colors and manufactures. i have always fished a pair of cheap gray lens shades. would like to go with probably a pair of costa del mar. gray makes things kinda tough in low light so im leaning towards amber, how do you all like it in mid day light? also, i know some outdoor place has to carry higher end glasses but have not seen them. many guys at the fish off had costa and ocean wave stickers but do know what stores have them. cant really buy a pair without trying them on so bps/cabelas are out. anyway, let shear it, thanks

Re: sunglasses?
I just buy a pair of polarised sun glasses from GI Joes and they seen to do me fine. That way when I scratch them up every year I can afford to buy a new pair. Just my thoughts.

Re: sunglasses?
I also buy the cheaper sunglasses since I tend to break them, lose them and scratch them. When one pair gets a little scratched I leave them in the boat or car as back ups. I prefer amber as they seem to have better acuity and are an advantage at dawn and dusk and cloudy days.

Re: sunglasses?
I use Solar Bats in Moss Green... Learned about them from Keith Clow down at Clear Lake during a Spring bassin' trip. Did a better job cutting through the water and making bass visible than any other pair I've owned. I also have a pair of Action Optics in Amber... nice, but not as good during daylight, but work well in early light. And, I've used the inexpensive flat grays that you can get at Walmart or GI Joes, which are better than just using normal sunglasses. Ultimately, you usually get better quality for more money, but price can be a big factor. Anything is better than nothing! Happy hunting. jb

Re: sunglasses?
If I had .05 cents for every pair of sunglasses I have lost over the years, I could afford a pair of Maui Jims.
I'll just have to stay with the affordable cheap'os because I cannot seem to keep them long enough to justify the high cost of designer glasses.
I have tried gray, blue, amber etc... I'm just not decerning enough to tell the diff. All seem one as good as the other.

Re: sunglasses?
I use two different sets of glasses. I am currently using Ocean Waves with a green lens, and a pair of Costa del Mar with amber lens. For low light conditions I use the amber lens, and when it is bright and sunny I use the green mirror lens on the Ocean Waves. I am not sure where you can try some on, but I bought mine online after trying on a pair that somebody else had. I am very happy with the Ocean Waves, I feel that I can see fish better with them than other types that I have had in the past. They are not cheap, but I think you get what you pay for.

Re: sunglasses?
If you want the best.... Maui Jim's. You always pay more for quality. I've had mine for two years, and although they were expensive, I've never regretted it.
If you want to spend less money because you lose them, get the cheapies... but if you want the real deal, go MJ's....
