I believe it. A few years ago I was fishing a small backwater just below the Cedar Is. ramp on the Willamette. I happen to see this monsterous bullfrog sitting on the bank a couple of feet from the water, I was suprised he didn't jump in the water as close as we were to him. Well, I tossed a camo power worm on a slider head just past the frog and started dragging past, when it got right in front of him he lunged at the worm and about scared the crap out of me! I ended up jerking the worm away from from the frog though, it's a shame I wasn't able to get him outa' there, they're non-native and from what I've heard they eat anything and every thing they can fit there mouths around. Could be some good eatin' if you could find a bunch of them!

Gnarly pic!

When I was a kid I'd stalk around a couple of different mill ponds and look for the frog eyes above water. Seems like the trick was tying something red onto a hook and dangling it in front of them and 'kabloosh!' you'd have this big ol' slimy frog on your line that totally grossed you out.

Caught a turtle out of a creek one time on a bobber and worm. The shell was about 15 inches.

When I was a kid my grandpa used to pay me for catching frogs for him to use as bait for catfish. Was tough going until I found an old bridge that went over the water with tons of frogs sittin on lilly pads and moss. Took a small hook with a small grasshopper on a trout rod and lowered it in front of the frogs---easy money after that. The frogs lunched that grasshopper every time!!

Yes onebadfish, Those giant bullfrogs (I don't know the actual name of them) are non-native and cause problems for our own native frog, turtle, snake etc. populations. I'm sure you could do a google search and find some info.

So, if you ever get a chance to "gig" a bunch of them, you'll not only be getting a tasty treat, you'll be helping the environment!
