Vancouver Lake used to have good crappie fishing but the best I have had is the waters of Sauvie's Island. Some of the lakes there can be reached with a boat launched at Gilbert River launch. Check with the Washington State warmwater fishing booklet that they put out for some locations near you. Also contact the Oregon Bass and Panfish Club for both states info. They do have a web site. Good luck.

Jacose - fyi the Oregon Bass and Panfish Club site is http://obpc0.tripod.com/OBPC/index.htm

While I am sure you will get some information form the site - the sure way is to attend some of their meeting and talk to the many - seasoned - crappy fishermen there. They love to talk fishging and will point out the Places to fish and what to use.

Everyone has there own favorite place [and time]. There are lots of crappie in the local area - in the Willammette, Columbia, Lacamas Lake and Multnomah channel. My favorite spot is Prineville Reservoir in the sping [april and may], many prefer Richland, OR [Brownlee reservoir].

If you are going to strike out on you own in this area. I would start with Lacamas lake or the Willammette - around slack water, down stream on piling. Us weighted jigs to get to the bottom - where the big ones are. Don't be suprised if you pick up a small mouth or two on the willammette

Good luck and good fishing

i have fished siver lake at all times of the yaer and done more than ok. and the crappie can get up to 3-4lbs and for me that is big. lots of smass ones but if you fish W/ a 3 inch grub you'll get more of the bigger ones.

Are you talking about the Silver Lake up by Castle Rock in Washington?

Fishaholic i think M Bass is talking of that silver lake... ive a friend who lives near the lake and he brags all the time about catching limits of nice size crappies. i am new to fishing for this kind of fish and am anxious to give it a try soon. i am mostly a fair weather fisherman so may have to wait now for spring.. joco

Does Silver lake have decent bank access.
By that I mean, fishing from the bank, do I stand a chance of catching fish, or is most of the
structure only reachable by a boat.
