Default Pedestal type seat mounts

I have been thinking about mounting some different seats. The seats i have are to low.The question I have is do the pedestal base work well ?Do they feel solid? Can they be cut down?is one better then the next?Should they be bolted or screwed? which model of spider should I get?Plastic or Alum. The boat is used in Salt water. Many hours are spent in the seat running long distances offshore. Thanks Rick

I have pedestal seats in my duckworth. They are ok. But my next boat will have the air ride.
Springfield Boat works are the name brand on my seats.

Thanks air rides are not in the budget for me and I do not know how they would hold up in Salt water.Do your seats feel solid on the peds.?Do you have the cushion spring thing on the base?Does your spider tighten up well on the column? Thanks any thing will help.

Yes to all the above questions. They came standard in the 02 Ducks. I had one of the pisions go bad and they replaced it.

My last NorthRiver had pedastal seats in it. They come stock and have some sort of a gas filled shock in them. I was impressed. Might ask them what brand they're using in their boats.

pearl, could you change the height of the gas-filled pedestools on your NorthRiver? That was funny as H#!!, I too share your fear that my wife will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it .
