Largemouth Report
Wannabe and a couple other freinds of mine have been wondering about the LM out of Scappoose bay lately so I thought I would give an up to date report.
My son and I have been doing real well lately. Lot's of LM, and I still can't believe the amount of quality Smallies we have been catching. We fished a club tourney last weekend, there were 3, 15lb plus bags of fished weighed in. A mixture of both SM and LM were weighed in. Lot's of 3lb plus Sm and a few 3lb and one 4.5lb LM were weighed in.
Fishing is good down here right now. The Hawg Hunter open should be an awesome tourney. I wish I could be there. So everyone that's make it down here, have fun!!! And be carefull, there are a lot of Salmon fishermen running out of the bay for the Columbia. Give them plenty of room when your on plane running up and down the river.

Re: Largemouth Report
Hey guys,
Can't fish Tri-Cities this year...would of liked to but timings not right. Going to fish a cluber this weekend and then the Hawg Hunter next weekend. Today it's on the water behind the house....this weather hopefully will keep some of the skiers off the water.

Re: Largemouth Report
Hey Rebel, thanks for the report...very much
Fished behind the house today. It was great, no skiers...two boats fishing, but only saw each of them once. I never caught any big fish but missed a couple in the three lb catergory. Weather was a bit windy but the fish were snappin. Was a great day...lots of fish.

Re: Largemouth Report
Hawg Hunter open is sept. 20th.
Money raised goes to a childrens charity selected by the members of the Hawg Hunters Bass club. I can't fish the tourney, but I will be there for the raffle in the afternoon.

Re: Largemouth Report
Oh I wish I could remember the name of the road. I do know about the time you see the bay coming from Portland there's a road to the right that crosses over the tracks and you can see the moorage from the highway. It's just down from the moose lodge. I'm sure rebel knows the street name. I just have little landmarks I go by.
I believe a lot of people are going to be fishing BASS up in Tri-Cities, so should be interesting to see how many show....but it will be fun. With this water temp dropping the smallies should be smackin.

Re: Largemouth Report
Report=SKUNK... thats right nothing I can't believe it either. I did have 1 hit on a senko, my son and I fished it from early am. to about 11:30 or so, it was however kinda windy with a small chop on the water. But I didn't really know where to fish, so I was on the run-n-gun technique. As I was pulling the boat out I met fellow IFISHer "5-Cents". It's always great to meet IFISH people. I need to find out

Re: Largemouth Report
Airborne, Sorry it didnt go well for you.
Scappoose bay can be a tough fishery until you spend some time on it and learn it. The next time you might want to try it, send me an email, I will see if we can hook up.
Don't let your first experience here discourage you, it truely is a great fishery (not an easy one) but a great fishery this time of year.
