Went crabbing on Sunday. Hard 4 hours of work for 4 keepers...

Apparently they schooled up on Friday last, and were caught off the terminal dock in fair numbers by sporties, did a big spawn along the LNG tank on Saturday night, and have dissapeared from the bay! Another bunch coming in? Who knows? The commercial guys missed 'em again for the third year in a row. Yaquina herring are a fickle lot! I'm guessing their numbers in the bay spawning are down in the last few years. Salmon numbers up? Any correlation there? Again, who knows.

Typically predator abundance is controlled by the prey abundance and not vice a versa.

You'll probably see numbers of salmon go down as the herring/bait fish numbers go down.

Aren't the Columbia Smelt poor at showing so far too

Does anyone know what fish swim into the fish ladder right there around the corner from the south beach marina? Just curious

Went out on Sat a bit late and missed a good bite for some. We ended up with 4doz.+ Some others had 5 gal bucket full. The fish were scattered and had our best look prospecting for schools. Crabbing was slow with 8 as the highest # I heard of.

I think you're talking about the old Ore-Aqua commercial hatchery.
