I haven't heard of warmouths west of the mississippi. The only sunfish I've caught in Oregon are bluegill, pumpkinseed and green sunfish.

I take that back. Looks like the state record warmouth came out of columbia slough in 75. If columbia slough used to produce, you may want to try Gilbert River on Sauvie Is.

Lake Oswego has warmouth in it. I grew up on the lake and we used to catch alot of them. We used to call them bigmouthed bluegill. I believe they got in there from the Tualatin River so you could probably find some in the Tualatin. Unless you know someone who has access to Lake Oswego, you won't be able to fish it.

I have caught Warmouth out at Sauvies Island and on the Willamette at Meldrum bar. They seem to be rare around here. I have never come across large concentrations of them anywhere around the metro area.

I knew they are at Lake Oswego and in sucker creek feeding the Lake. Also Oswego creek flowing from the lake to the River. But I have never caught any in those locations.

Mission creek and St Louis Ponds are known to have them too.

Thanks to all those who responded. St Louis Pond is where I was told that holds a fair number of them. Now, I need to locate St. Louis Pond.

BTW, I am hoping to catch one for Show and tell, to neighboring kids, and also my daughter.

They are rare, and the correct spelling is warmouth.

thanks again,

<font size="2" face="verdana,arial,helv">Bucketmouth,
The lake is fed by a canal that comes from the Tualatin River. Sucker Creek and Oswego Creek are one in the same. It is the outlet stream that goes into the Willamette.

The Lake actually has a big population of warmouth. I have caught hundreds of them out of there.

Tanner,

I stand corrected!

Sure wish I could fish the Lake. It's got to have some nice sized bass in it.

Bucketmouth,
No Problem. Yeah I wish I still had access to the lake. I live in Lake O but no Lake Access. My Dad sold his house on the main canal about 6 years ago and I have not fished it since. There are some hawg largemouth in there. I have caught them up to 8 lbs. There are also some of the biggest yellow perch I have seen in oregon. I have caught 15 inchers out of there.

I would love to have access and be able to fish the old fishing grounds again, especially now that Senkos are around.....
