Truck bed mount for drift boat?

Anyone ever heard of, or seen a way to get a drift boat up into the bed or ontop of a truck? I'm not talking a 14' but a 17' DB. My dad has a lightweight system where he cranks his 14'aluminum boat up onto his campershell. I know I'm asking for a lot but I would like find a way to take my boat and my trailor camping. I've looked at campers, but have a shortbed 3/4 ton and can handle the weight but size is an issue. Any suggestions?

I think you'll probably find it really hard because there isn't a flat surface on a driftboat (like when you overturn a 14' skiff and set it on its rails). The rocker in the hull will mean that you'll have to coustom build something. If your going to be fishing by yourself look into a pontoon boat or small pram!

yes there is a way its called lift and load fits in full size truck and is powered by a 5000 lb warn winch works great but takes a smaller trailer send me a pm if you whant more info

Years ago when up at Wickiup Res., I saw several rigs that had custom racks built onto their beds. They winched the boat and trailer up onto the rack with portable ramps. I think they were made out of aluminum. The tounges stuck out over the cabs. These were big heavy ski boats. They were hauling big travel trailers behind 'em too. They all had either Dodge V-10's or Cummins diesels. Quite the show to watch, worked slick.

Don't see why you couldn't do something like that with a DB? Besides $$$$ :depressed: Would be really nice to have the boat trailer for launching once you got to where you were going.

I knew someone years ago that had such an outfit. His rig had hydraulic arms which lowered down and picked up the boat and trailer from under the axle. He could tow his RV trailer while his boat rode above the pickup bed and cab. Seems to me this was manufactured in Idaho.
