Default Looking for a report on Cullaby Lake

Cullaby Lake, what could I expect next week for bass catching? We may be at Ft. Stevens for the week and we would really like to spend so time on the lake. What to use and point me to an area of the lake where the fish might be. Appreciate any help. PD

any bank with a clean bottom- and there are only a few around- and you can still catch fish on jigs and senkos just like it's springtime. You can also try isolated wood- even if it's in the middle of those dollar pads. Frogs on the dollar pads, plastic worms BEHIND the pads, and buzzbaits in front of the pads, but nothing will produce big fish like a clean bottom in summer. Pitch a jig under those trees where no vegatables grow- it can be slow but you can still get big fish and there is almost no pressure and all the skiers in the world dont really seem to matter. Got a 7lber. at 1:30 in the afternoon in three feet of water with skiers everywhere. Good luck!!

I'll say there are some big bass in that lake ! Our first morning, not knowing anything about the lake other than there were nice bass there, we headed for the east shore to try to find deeper water with floating trees or brush and get away from the pads and grass. Flipping 4" tubes wasn't working, changed to a big Denny Braugher black with red flake tube, first cast, line jumps and moves sideways, fish on! 2 1/2 lb nice fish. On down the shore we catch a few dinks. Change to a Bandit 100 plug, fish after fish, I just really enjoy wiggling it through the brush and grass. My wife and two labs went along but she didn't fish, she got to see several really nice fish. A 4 1/2 lb bass, as I lift it from the water, she's going, Holy cow that's a big fish. Yip sure is, see why I like bass fishing so much ! YES, I'm saying under my breath. Fishing the outside edges of the grass in deeper water and targeting the older fallen stuff is what did it for me. Two mornings and we left them all for next time! I'll be back.
