Salem area report
Went fishing this afternoon in the heat of the day in the slough at Riverfront Park. Got four smallmouths and a crappy in about 20 minutes, then the bite turned off. They didn't have much size to them, though, about 8 inches. Lost one larger one. Then I went to the pond off on the way to the demolition landfill, off of River Road past Minto-Brown park, lost about a 3 pounder. Not bad for about an hour and a half of fishing in the middle of the day. I was using a chartruese maribou jig.
