Still an open seat it looks like. My normal partner is fighting a fire and I'm not sure he'll be back.

Are you fishing the tenmile open? I'm prefishing for it Saturday.

Dave-

Nothing big happening down there this weekend that I know of. The next weekend(first weekend in August) is the Tenmile Open - a two day tourney that can get pretty packed. This coming weekend should be pretty tame though other than a few guys prefishing and a whole lot of water skiers. What club is having a tourney there? Tough time of year for a club tourney at Tenmile thats for sure.

thanks, nitro. I still may not go if you think it will be kind of tough- I'm kind of a sissy that way- hehe. I have never been a good summertime fisherman, anyway. I haven't joined the club but was going to this weekend so we could fish. It is based in Tillamook- not sure the name. I fished one of their tourneys as a guest last spring and it was fun.

You dont see many club tourneys at tenmile during the summer(other than night events) because the fishing is so tough. Tons of skiers, lots of wind, lots of weeds, and the fish are small. Physically its a real grind but the Tenmile Open is usually a really fun one with a good turnout. If you fish really early and really late you can catch lots of fish though.

Nitro
I've heard that fishing hasn't been too bad down there. But then again like you said if the weather is fair there will be lots of watercraft on the lake. Friend of mine moved to Florence and has been fishing it regularly...he seems to be doing ok. Keeping tight lipped about whats working but thats ok. I've got a side bet of a dollor for big fish with his wife. Not much but the trash talkin is worth ten times the dollar value. Look forward to seeing you there. Haven't been on the lake for over a year so the tourney will be fun. Feels kind of funny gearing up for largemouth.

The club out of Tillamook has a July tourney every year. It's a family outing where we all get together and have a big BBQ after weigh in at one of our members property in Lakeside. It's a lot of fun!

Never takes a lot of weight to win the tourney, but there is alway's a lot of fish caught, and we have a ton of fun. I'm taking my 8 year old son down for his second tournament. I hope we can do as well as what we did on the Willamette back in May. But I'm afraid he is about to experience reality when it come's to fishing tournaments.

Nitrobass,

Sorry, I missed your last post. Our weigh in was at 3:00 on Sat. Lot's of fish were weighed in, but not much for qaulity. Though there was a 5.03lb fish.

My son and I caught a lot of fish, but our best 5 weighed just under 8lbs. It didn't seem to matter to my son, he was catching fish and smiling the whole time.

Nitrobass, did you stay at the seadrift Sat. night? I was in the Chevy pickup with the blue Ranger. That might have been you I talked to at the ramp Sun. morning.

Well shoot....That was me at the Seadrift, and I remember your Ranger. And that was me at the launch on Sunday. Bad communication on our part!

Fishing was about right for Tenmile in the summer. Saturday I got lucky and got some big fish. Sunday it took awhile but eventually we put some decent fish in. I'm pretty excited for the Tenmile Open so we'll see what happens there. Are you fishing it?

The club members I met that were fishing your tourney were really friendly and seemed like good people. I've seen a couple of them around before.
Next time we're on the same lake I'll buy you a beer, just gotta let me know if you're there-

Kevin

Well I guess I need to be a little more sociable while at the motel from here on out. Sorry we didn't hook up.

I won't be fishing the open next weekend, but a few other members from the club will be. For some reason the coastal lakes give me a hard time anymore. My son and I caught a lot of fish over the weekend, but no quality. It didn't seem to matter wether we were fishing 2ft of water or 15ft of water, we just kept catching dinks. But it was a great weekend, we had a lot of fun.

Good luck next week!!!!!

Several years ago I did very well for crappie in the Coleman arm. I don't think I've caught one since. Anybody have any better luck. This spring I had THE biggest steelhead I've ever seen follow a spoon up to my boat. Scared the heck outta me! I literally just about fell out of my boat!

Wish I had better news to report but it was a blast. Its a two day cumulative weight deal. Saturday we weighed in 13.8 which put us in 5th, not too bad for 64 boats. Sunday we rolled the dice and fished for the win and bombed! Went to a big fish spot and instantly lost a hog, then stuck with it with no more real chances(bad decision) With a couple hours to go we abandoned that deal and tried for a quick limit which was tough. Only brought in 4 small keepers and that didnt cut it. That was the most productive tenmile open I've ever seen. Lots of really small fish were biting so the next couple of years should be great. Most of our fish were on worms, topwaters, grubs, and other plastic snacks. Wish I had a more successful report but thats tourney fishing.......

This was a great tourney. Good to see all the people and all the limits. They ran it real well. We caught lots of fish but just couldn't get the size. We had our limit each day in about an hour on the baits you mentioned. We were fortunate to get a sixth out of the deal.

Nitro,
Yes he does....and he also has a blue Ranger. It was cool too as I had won that boat on the Delta a couple years ago and have wanted to fish a tourney out of it. It's been a great boat I believe for tom.

Seems like I've fished a few days out of that same boat. He used to be my boss down here in Eugene so we fished a bit then. You guys did great at the open, congrats again.

Naw, passing on the Bi Mart. I'm pretty much winding it down for the year.

Does Tom still toss senkos on spinning gear?

The best months are definitely coming but my tank is on empty. Havent hardly taken a weekend off in months. There's a neat looking tourney at Galesville in september that I'll probably fish, and maybe a club tourney or two. Are you in the fish off at tenmile?
Last time I fished with Tom was at crane and the goofball was tossing senkos on spinning gear, breaking fish off like crazy.

Hagen,

It something about "Concerned bass anglers" or something along those lines. Not sure if its a club thats putting it on, my buddy has the flyer. They were handing them out at the Tenmile Open. Thats a fun lake!

Ok that sounds about right. I do belive its part of the warmwater action commity that is putting it on. Made up of members from quite a few clubs. Looks like I might have to talk the boss into letting me fish two tourney's in Sept. Instead of just the Club.
Head off to Trinity next weekend to play in the heat.
