Default GI Joe's Sturgeon Derby (smack down!)

Got my Team number 45 wave 1 in mail today for the 2005 GI Joe's/Stealth $25,000 Invitational Sturgeon Derby! We have been planning or strategy for almost a year now. Our team has yet to place in the event but look out this year! The plan is to pack more ham and cheese sandwiches and a few more cold ones! That should do the trick! This is a fun event, and a great way to kick off the Spring fishing season.

When is the derby and how much does it cost to enter? Can you still enter?
Thanks!

FF,

Prepare for a good old fashioned *#@ whip-n. I've ponyed up my 75 greenies and intend to take no captives. My team consists of "talks2elk", "Larry", and of course trash talker "Kwik Karl". Hope to see a lot of I fishers out there. KK

Team Hunter is in waiting for our numbers sent money in 2 weeks ago our 3rd or 4th year of this what a blast... Had some wild stories in past few years with these.

1st year we did this headed west towards Frenchmans fished most of day with out a bite, moved a few times decided to fish closer to the launch since we only had a couple of hours left before the buzzer. Motoring east hit the mouth of Willie and POW, nothing, boat settles down in the water, no power, (lost bottom end dead center of channel) cell phoned a buddy fishing in tourney he pulled anchor and towed up to the launch.

Next year headed up river towards the dam, about 5 boats got out ahead of us and putting up some rough water we started picking them off one by one by the time we got to Washougal two ahead of us one on right and one on left passed the boat on right then closed in on boat on left, as we just passed the boat on left, on lower end of Reed island we all of a sudden did the MISS BUDWEISER stand the boat up on its tail, motor is screaming out of the water, I looked back to check on the guy sitting in the back, I see the boat we just passed pulling off the throttle with their mouths wide open, and then we landed back down and kept on going. (One thing I suggest not to try this at home) you talk about 3 guys checking their shorts man I hate looking at the bow cover head on when I'm sitting down. I know there are some wild stories out there but this was ours...

Good luck to everyone be safe, and if you see a Red Alum. White Water boat with Team Hunter on it say hi...

Team knot@work (kwik karl & give fish trouble) are #83 1st wave. This will be the first time we have done the GI Joes derby, it sounds like alot of fun. Maybe we can be the lucky boat (or not).

I'll be there, fourth year for me.

Team #93 this year, that's the biggest number so far for me and I even put it in really early this year. Oh well the ramp at Portco is much easier with that many boats.

Good luck everyone and stop and say hi!

The Captain's meeting on Friday nite is fun too! You get your team shirts and goodie bags. I may not win the tourny (or maybe I will) but I'll be bringing along my hitch to pull home my new North River Drift Boat! (must be present to win)

We should figure out a time for the IFishers to meet, either at the captain's meeting or at the dinner on Saturday.

Anyone interested?

The envelopes are being stuffed and sent out. Can't wait, it should be another great time. Don't forget to have your radios on ch.68 so we can hear the trash talkin. I'll be sure to wave as I go by. GENE

My buddies son wants to enter but I have no idea what I am doing! I have a 20' NR Trapper and have not yet gone for any shakers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Do you anchor or troll for these bad boys?

We will be there, team #158, second wave, I am giving all you guys in the 1st wave a chance. What about an ifish gathering at the captain's meeting.
