Default Coastal Lakes - Florence

Has anybody fished any of the lakes near Florence lately for trout ? I'm taking a buddy(from Iowa) down there for some trout fishing. I love to fish around there just haven't had time this summer. TOO MANY LAKES, TO LITTLE TIME!

Fished Munsel Lake Tuesday, but only targeted trout for a short time, after several hours determining the bass were not cooperating. Had a couple of decent hits trolling the usual stuff behind flashers. Only 3 boats total on Munsel from 8am till 1pm, the other two were having little success also. Good luck on your trip!

Damon, Use the link to the ODFW on the main page of ifish and go to fishing and click on fish planting schedule. That will tell you when where and how many trout the DFW has planted in the coastal lakes. Some of the smaller lakes down that way get quite a few fish every year, like Cleawox, Elbow, Carter and Sutton. Lakes like Mercer, Woahink, Siltcoos and Ten Mile Lakes are likely to have some larger holdover trout, native Cutthroat too.
Good Luck

fishotom, You ever fish Mercer for bass?? Try it you'll like! Supposedly Mercer has some good perch in it too.

Smj.... I have fished Mercer for bass, but at the wrong time of the year. Local rumor has it there are some very nice bass in that lake, but they are difficult to find and catch. I'll go back sometime when the "water toys" are not out in full force.

Just got back today. Couldn't buy a fish at Munsel on Thurs. Tried for trout, should have given the bass a shot(I've caught some huge bass there in the past)Fished Loon Thurs night and Fri. morning. Got a few trout, perch bluegill, and bass. Had a big bass break a ball-bearing swivel. I was MAD! Yesterday afternoon I fished the Umpqua RIver and got a pile of smallmouth just nothing too big.
