Sorry to tell you this, but this BSE has been around for a very LONG time, and the incubation period is also very long...the 'prion's' are all over the tissue, not just the spinal cord/brain, it is wherever the nervous tissue is, and that is all over the meat, of course. A bigger concern with red meat is simply the fat/grease....hey, SOMETHING IS GONNA GET YOU...no getting away from it, best we can hope for is to die quick, no biggie, we have done it many time's before.

Good for you, go ahead and switch to chicken or just veggies. It will only mean more for the rest of us Besides we all have to die of something Plus if we were not meant to eat meat, then why do we have such sharp teeth???

I'll probablly get flamed for this, but organic beef has a much much smaller chance of being infected with madcow than regular.

Anything involved with bovine growth hormone has a much larger chance of madcow, due to the cycle of feeding/hormones they use.

There's a lot of shops that offer organic, and many of them are not that spendy at all, for good, aged meat.
Cheers.

"Organic" in beef is a way overused term. There's something like 5 very small ranches in the US that can truthfully say they have organic beef. Free range beef is what you're seeing out there and even a large percentage of that has been fed antiobotics at the calf stage.

Every food has risks..
