Default Hunting Cougar

Anyone have a good method for hunting cougars, since dogs are not legal, my buddy has one around his house in Gaston  and he's worried for his childrens saftey, not to mention it's a little nerve racking when you go relive yourself at the tree line at night!!!

Try a predator call. An electronic one you can set up away from the house a ways, then sit on the patio with your rifle.

Good luck, if you need some help. I have buddies that live just down the road (Dilley/Forest Grove).

Cougar are like all cats. They use a litter box. If you find the cougars litter box, you can kill the cat. They will defecate in the same spot all the time, and it should be low in elevation (relative to the surrounding landscape)and central in their home range. This will take plenty of searching and scouting but, it can be done. Good luck!!

They are a problem where I live too. Domestic and farm animals up to the size of a goat attract them here. They made a regular stop during the night a couple times a week for too long because of my chickens. It was the same approach and destination each time so waiting up all night downwind and elevated paid off before a week was over. My neighbors and I don't walk the woods unarmed or our yards at dusk for that matter. All the kids were made aware of the concern and adults reminded of the need for backdrop when shooting. Everyone has 20 acres or so but being spooked of these not shy to show up on your front porch cats we were also worried of those not being hunters shooting rifles. So, maybe it'd be good to talk to the neighbors too?
