Default A fishing story

It was suggested to me that I was supposed to post a fishing story by a fellow Ifisher. About a week ago, I bought a motor from gotfish76, and this is the story of the motors first use.......

After many years without a boat, I finally aquired one. I spent all last Saturday getting it ready to go for Sunday, and after fixing one thing after another, was finally ready Saturday evening.
Comes Sunday Morning, we headed for the Alsea bay (with rather poor bait, but heck,we were gonna get to go, so who cares?)

It was still dark, and as I sped down the road, I noticed a person all dresssed in black in the opposite lane waving his arms.
I stopped, and he hobbled up to my vehicle, soaking wet and missing a shoe. Small cut on forehead, disoriented, limping.
I asked him what happened? He said "I rolled my truck into the river".
We quickly verified that he was alone, and listened in disbelief when he told us he rolled it about 2 am. I asked if he would like to go to the hospital, but he said hed rather go to his cousins and get a hot shower.
We took him there, crabbed the day away (Good fun, poor results) then on the way home looked at where he had gone in. His truck must have rolled about three times, landed in a chinook hole, then was washed downriver about 100 feet before sinking.
The water was about 6 inches over the cab top of his truck, and all I could think was, this gentleman was lucky to be alive. It was 54 degrees out that morning, and jsut two weeks earlier, it was 28. Brrrrrrr.
As a followup, he suffered no major injuries, just a very rough night on the coast.

BTW< the motor performed great.....

Yikes! You caught more than you bargained for on that trip! He was a lucky guy that a good person such as you happened by. It's easy to get hypothermic when your in shock, wet and it's a cool night on the coast. Good work!

Thanks for the "good" story. It seems more often than not that these types of stories end up in some staged crash and some innocent Good Samaritan gets taken on a crime.

Nice job for going with your best intentions first.

Glad to hear he is okay. Sounds like another car body in the river! Thanks for sharing your adventure. Stumpfish, hopefully you can put in a fish picture in the future now that you have a new boat!
