Spinning Line
I have been acustomed to using Stren's Easy Cast as my main line, but lately I continue to get really bad line twist with it and it seems to be breaking fairly easily when drift fished.
What would you recommend to use for main line for steelhead on a spinning reel?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Spinning Line
I just started using Suffix and I love it on my spinning reel.

Re: Spinning Line
I have thought about using a braided line, or something besides mono, but I am afraid of it digging into the reel or itself.
Have you experienced this with the Suffix?
Thanks.

Re: Spinning Line
I have Brekley Fire Line on all of my spinning reels, and have no problems with it digging in. I do use about 6-8 feel of mono leader with it tho.

Re: Spinning Line
I'll third the Sufix DNA, awesome stuff. I also use original stren, either clear blue or gold, and have found it to really stand up well.

Re: Spinning Line
Fished the first day with my spinning reel filled with Tuff Line XP High Vis yesterday - did very well. No memory to the line, very limp, does not dig into itself. Smaller diameter w/ higher strength. Did very well in my opinion. Also have this on my bait caster. Like it as well.
Worth the $.

Re: Spinning Line
I like the Maxima Perfexion also......strong for its size and very low memory.

Re: Spinning Line
Sufix dna or p-line floroclear never lost a fish from line trouble.

Re: Spinning Line
Maxima Perflexion is the best!!!
I caught a 18 pounder this year and turns out I was using 8# and bot 10# perfletion.
The line twist is not caused by the lien however, but from not alowing the lien to untwist occationally.
Also, it is helpful to soak your spool of lien for ten minutes before fishing.

Re: Spinning Line
My Dad turned me on to Suffix DNA. He is a big Bass Tourn. Fisherman and loves it.
And now so do I
Casts great, excellent abrasion resistance

Re: Spinning Line
Izorline platinum. The only problems that I have had with it is one it has been on the spool for a long time like 2 months or so it starts to get reel bad memory. This is also a good thing because it forces me to have to change my line often.

I like power pro myself. Never have had any problems with memory, or digging in to the spool.

You won't be dissappointed with any braided line.

Re: Spinning Line
My vote is for Suffix DNA. Ollie Damon's is where I got my spinning reel filled. They seem to have a great selection of line. If you have not gotten any yet,I would see what they have. My 2 cents.

Re: Spinning Line
If your worried about line twist or memory problem then braided line cant be beat...but....
Ive noticed with braided line gets wet and heavy and doesnt have a natural drift like mono, just wants to sink and stick underwater when soaked..
anyone confirm this problem?
for drift fishing I cant go wrong with Maxima ultragreen for mainline and leader.

Re: Spinning Line
Maxima Perflexion sucks. Switch to braids and you'll be happy. PowerPro or FireLine. I use the latter.

Re: Spinning Line
Suffix DNA on all my spinning reels....smooth as silk, extremely low memory. I just recently put 10lb suffix dna on my abu C4....I swear it has cut down on my backlash encounters, and I can cast it a country mile!
Seems like Fisherman's is the only place I can find it though...
