Freshly stolen 8 HP Merc Kicker, old Vancouver
Just stolen Thursday morning 1/20/05 between 8 and 9 am from boat under car port near old downtown Vancouver, 98660. Mercury 8 HP kicker, black, tiller, serial # OG170781. 1994 model year. Only distinguishing note is a non factory stainless steel 10/32 screw and nut through tiller handle near throttle grip, to hold underside cable bracket in place. Motor was cabled to main engine with 3/8" heavy cable and heavy lock. Went home this morning at 9 to retrieve something and motor was gone, cable cut and hanging. I have filed report with VPD. Let me know if you have any leads. 503 972-6621. Ray.

Please post this information on the "Lost and Stolen Property" forum, also. We'll all keep our eyes and ears alert for your kicker.

Bummer Ray. It would have been better if they had stolen the boat and left the kicker.

Re: Freshly stolen 8 HP Merc Kicker, old Vancouver
Every one with a kicker motor NEEDS to go and get the "QuickSilver" lock!...Or two of them! Cables and chains and pad locks and those locking bars that go across the screw down handles are too easy to remove for the pro-thief.
The way it wraps around the threaded shaft I can't see any possible way to remove that lock to steal a kicker, without destroying part of the motor anyway.
What?...almost every week someone is posting a stolen kicker?
Get The Lock!
