Team Carrot Milk Reveals Springer Tactics
Now that I have your attention, I’d like to thank Jennie for allowing Salmon Trout Steelhead magazine and Frank Amato Publications to run a banner ad on this website. It will be located at the bottom of this page next to the TR-1 ad. It should be up sometime this week.
I’ve been a longtime lurker and would like to commend Jennie for doing so much for Northwest anglers. We had the opportunity to fish the North Fork Nehalem Wednesday. While grinding out the details for the ad we managed to hook five winter runs. Unfortunately the pictures didn’t come out because it was pouring down rain, but we had a ball.
On Friday I fished with Bobby and Zak of Team Carrot Milk on the Clackamas River. Fishing had been hot for side-drifters during mid-week, but we hit a rising river and only managed one native that Bobby caught. Today they are in the process of finishing up an article for the April issue of STS that will detail some of their Columbia River springer strategies. I’m afraid the recipe for carrot milk won’t be included, but secret scents are only a part of the big picture.
I look forward to sharing fishing tips and stories with members.
Tip: My brother and his buddy Craig landed four steelhead (three keepers) Saturday with cerise jigs on the Clackamas. He launched his mini-sled at Carver.

Re: Team Carrot Milk Reveals Springer Tactics
Thank you ifishers for the warm welcome!
Pick Pocket here is a short story. When I was 12 years old my father took me to Alaska to anchor fish the mouth of Lake Creek. Fishing had been excellent. By our third day we had hooked and released many chinook in the 30 to high 40 pound class with Tadpollies. A family friend from Italy named Silvio showed up in the afternoon and was ready to catch a chinook with a fly rod. He had just finished floating Lake Creek. Well dad was tired so I took Silvio out in our little pram. We anchored up and Silvio hung a giant streamer pattern behind the boat. I didn’t think he would get a bite, but wouldn’t you know it after 15 minutes he hooked up with a big king. We pulled anchor and started chasing the giant. The fish started jumping like crazy in the direction of the boat. On its final leap it flew from at least 10 feet away and hit Silvio dead square in the chest. It knocked him over and into the bottom of the pram (and I mean pram). Silvio grabbed a pair of plier and wrestled with that 43 pounder. I wasn’t sure who was winning for a while. Before Silvio finally won the battle (screaming in Italian like you can’t imagine) the fish pretty much tore up everything in the bottom of the boat including the net. That is an event that I’ll never forget.
Willie Rower, lets go in February.
Jennie, all I can say is Wow!

Glad you're posting something Nick. I thought you

Re: Team Carrot Milk Reveals Springer Tactics
Welcome aboard Nick,
Many thanks for your great magazine. The information learned and shared at IFISH and STS makes all of us better fisherman and better informed stewards of our land and water resources.
