Late Willy Buck (updated w/ score)
Well he did it again. Just when you think deer season is over....For like the 3rd year in a row my father has gone into my favorite secret deer spot after I'm gone and pulled a big buck out of there.
This is what I find in my inbox after waking up late on New Years Day. Apparently he took a friend out that morning and they found this monster blacktail. Willamette tag pays off again. This is after my dad killed a nice 3x3 out of there earlier in December with his tag.
Not the prettiest pictures, but shows you the antlers on this animal. Huge blacktail and really tall.

Re: Late Willy Buck
Fantastic buck! Did he shoot that thing in the head or was that the kill shot? I'd be afraid to shoot a buck like that in the head as I might break the antlers loose. Tell your father and his friend congratulations!

Re: Late Willy Buck
That sure looks like a head shot, look at the eyeballs popping out. I bet the skull is cracked. It would be too bad since that would be a book buck with intact antlers.

Re: Late Willy Buck (updated w/ score)
I don't know what to say. Green score - 170 1/8.
W/ deduction it looks like it will score around 163.
Amazing blacktail.

141 2/8 and from only a couple hundred yards away.
I think we've found a spot.

Re: Late Willy Buck (updated w/ score)
It's a nice looking buck, but it should have been skinned out and cooled out faster than being displayed in the back of a pick up truck.

Re: Late Willy Buck (updated w/ score)
The deer is 40 minutes dead. How much faster do you want it skinned out and hanging? Shot, gutted, drug it to the truck whole, threw it in the back, took it home and backed up to unload it, taking some pictures in the process.
Any more ethics police?

Re: Late Willy Buck (updated w/ score)
Ben,
Sorry to see people taking pot-shots at your last couple of posts. I always enjoy what you have to say and cannot recall you ever posting anything that I would consider unsportsmanlike.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Late Willy Buck (updated w/ score)
One of the biggest bucks I have ever seen on the hoof was in the willy unit. Conditions are there for monsters and a bow or shotgun is becoming the only way to get one without hitting a house. You have to be realy carefull in some of those areas.
